春は新しいスタートの季節。
多くの人が新しい環境に引越しをしますね。

引っ越し――英語で何と言う？

英語では「引っ越し」を“moving”と表現します。ですが、
その使い方によって意味がガラッと変わります。

今回は、その場所を離れる時の「引っ越し」について見ていきましょう。

引越しをして、その場所や土地を離れる時の表現

・I’m moving out.

・I’m moving away.

・I’m moving back to my hometown.

”I’m moving out”は、「引っ越しをして出ていきます」と、その家や居住スペースから引っ越すことを表す時に使います。

”I’m moving away.”は、「(その地を）引っ越して離れる」と言いたい時に使うことができます。

”I’m moving back to my hometown.” は、「引っ越して両親の家に戻ります」と間接的にその土地から引っ越しをして離れることを伝えることができます。move backは一度住んでいたことがある場所に戻る時に使います。

会話例①：

A: What is your plan after graduation?

　（卒業したら、どうする予定なの？）

B:I’m moving out from my apartment.

　（アパートから引っ越しをするよ。）

A:I’m moving back to my hometown next month.
